The New
York State Society of Medical Oncologists and Hematologists, Inc.,
(Downstate Division) was formed over thirty years ago. The initial purpose of
the organization was to address issues of socio-economic significance but more
recently, we are including issues of academic importance as well. We have
established a working relationship with Medicare carriers who have looked to us
for meaningful contributions regarding issues of reimbursements consistent with
the best patient care and because of such, we have been recognized as advisors
to Medicare (NGS). As a State Society, we have maintained a very close working
relationship with ASCO and ASH. There has been a steady and more recently
marked increase in the number of members of this Society. It is obvious there
is strength in numbers. We need everyone's support in order to adequately
represent the needs of all of us. The fees are nominal. We hope you will join
us.
